The Beginning of My Fitness Journey

IMG_7526 IMG_7527

As a teenager I’m naturally very lazy, I’m also anaemic and have low blood pressure which doubles the laziness. All of this paired with an unhealthy diet and absolutely no exercise has made me so unfit and unhealthy! Feeling tired and out of breath all the time was not fun and I really wanted to get myself together and just feel good. So this is where my fitness journey began. I wasn’t really sure where to start so I scrolled all the way back to ViviannaDoesMakeup’s first fitness post and read through for inspiration. After hours of reading I came up with a few ideas and I thought beginners like me might like to hear them too!

I wanted to see how committed I was before risking it for a chocolate biscuit and signing up for the gym. So I decided I’d try running. Anna seemed to really enjoy it and I didn’t think it would be too hard. I was wrong, so very wrong. I ran for about 20 minutes and spent the whole time feeling like I was going to throw up, every bone in my body ached the next day. But each time I did it I improved and now I enjoy getting sweaty outside in the fresh air. With this new running craze I downloaded the Nike Running App. It’s really great and allows you to track your run, see your fastest and slowest points, compete with others, set challenges and really clearly see improvements. IMG_7529

The app also provides great music to run to, really classic RnB stuff which I love bobbing along to! So if you are thinking about starting to get your legs moving then I definitely recommend checking out the Nike Running App!

But something I’m absolutely loving at the moment is Yoga! It’s a sport that’s blown up all over social media but let me tell you, it’s not all pretty pictures! I have got some of my hardest sweats on and shakiest legs from Yoga. I absolutely adore the feeling of being all stretched out after a good Yoga session. If you’re looking for a place to start, I have the perfect one right here!

It’s the 30 Days of Yoga challenge by Yoga With Adriene. She is the perfect teacher, so encouraging and so funny. Her videos contain loads of moves and really good routines which stretch you in muscles you didn’t even know you had. I’m doing the challenge myself and I’m about half way through but, I also use her other videos when I’m feeling the need for an extra stretch. I’ve used her routine for after running which is really great ( a little painful – but great ).

So that is my fitness regime to date. I’m hoping to do more of these posts as my fitness develops and I hope you feel encouraged to work out too! Let me know if you are in the same position as me! I’m loving it so far, how about you?

How I revise for GCSE’s

IMG_7518 IMG_7519 IMG_7520

So exam season is fully upon us and revision has started. So I thought I would share how I personally revise incase it is helpful for anyone! I know that watching revision videos and reading revision posts really motivates me and gives me tips so I hope I can give that to people too.

I don’t know about anyone else but I own so many revision guides and class books for each subject that it’s hard to keep track of it all. So to keep myself organised I keep the revision material for all my subjects in set boxes. I picked the boxes up from a local craft store for a couple pence (I’m sure you can get more attractive ones but I just got the cheapest and they do the job!) and I’ve labeled them with each of my subjects. I keep them all piled on my desk so that I can see them and the organisation strangely motivates me to revise! Inside I keep sheets, text books, revision guides and any kind of revision material I have and it means that everything I need is in one place. To help me organise the revision I do each day I have the most complicated revision timetable ever! My dad is a little obsessed with excel so he created the absolute monster of a time table for me but it makes life so much easier! I just look at what is set to revise for the day and grab my subject boxes and off I go! I keep the timetable up on my wall by my calendar so I am always looking at it. I also always revise downstairs in the dining room away from my bedroom as it makes me feel so much more awake and ready to focus.

When I am revising I will read through work I’ve done and revision guides in topics and I will then rewrite that entire topic in my own notes and highlight bits I am unsure on. I will do diagrams, scribble things out and just write all the knowledge possible. I still don’t know if this is the best way to revise for me but it definitely seems to be helping to refresh my mind. The rewording in my own words helps it to stick in my mind as it makes me think more in-depth of the subject in order to reword.

One place which really helps me to revise is the website GCSEpod. It has a whole range of podcasts covering topics for each subject and each exam board so there is something there for everyone! The podcasts are tiny clips filled with information. As I watch I will pause to write down information and by the time you’ve finished you have pages of information and you really remember it as it incorporates all kinds of learning! It’s so useful! You just have to make an account!

So that is a brief description of my revision! How do you revise? So you find it stressful because I know I do!

Clarisonic – Keith Haring Aria Edition

IMG_7480 IMG_7483

For my birthday, my main present was a Clarisonic which I didn’t include in my What I got for my Birthday post because I wanted to try it out and give it a post of its own!

I was given the Keith Haring Aria Edition which is absolutely gorgeous! I read so many reviews and watched so many YouTube videos on the Clarisonic and just knew I had to have it! If you don’t know what it is a Clarisonic is basically an electric skin cleanser. It is a brush that rotates on the face pushing cleansing product deep into your pores and removing dead/dirty skin cells. The company describe it as combining technology with a desire to improve skin.

IMG_7485 IMG_7486 IMG_7487

When you open the box your eyes are immediately drawn to the cute little bag with an art piece by Keith Haring on. Inside the bag is a whole range of goodies. First of all is the Clarisonic stand and charger which is quite obviously very needed. I love the fact that it has a stand because I think it’s so cute having it stood up on your bathroom cabinet! Next inside the bag is a gel cleanser which you can put on top of the brush head to cleanse with. Of course you can use your own gel cleanser but it was very helpful that they added one in as I personally do not own a gel cleanser. The cleanser aims to purify and refresh the skin which I would say it does as it always leaves my skin feeling fresh and so so soft! So I think I might repurchase this or see what other kinds they offer – very impressed.

IMG_7489 IMG_7491

The devise itself, I think, has a very sleek and professional feel to it. It looks as if it’s really going to do something to help your skin and after using it for about 3 weeks I can personally say: it does! I use it about twice a week as it’s quite a deep exfoliation which you don’t want to be doing too often. The first thing you notice when you use it is how relaxing it feels, so soothing and like a facial! You can really feel it spinning into your pores which is unbelievably satisfying. After my first use I noticed that my skin had brought every spot to the surface which was quite annoying but it was a sign that something had worked. After a few days the spots went down and after my second use no more appeared, my skin just felt so refreshed and revitalised. Now, my skin has a healthy glow to it. Of course I still get spots but it really has helped to clear my skin and prevent spots from dirty skin (I just get the annoying hormonal ones now).

So overall, I highly recommend the Clarisonic. Yes it’s a little pricey but if you’re like me and have a real issue with your skin or just want to make it healthy then I think it’s absolutely worth the money!

Have you tried it before? What do you think about electronic cleansers?

February Favourites | 2016

IMG_7510 IMG_7511 IMG_7513

I know it’s officially the second week of March now but it’s never too late to show you my February favourites! I’ve got quite a few lovely products this month. First up the Garnier Pure Active Micellar Cleansing Water which I posted about last month. This is truly amazing and makes my skin feel so clean! It removes my make up instantly and isn’t at all drying unlike some cleansers I’ve used. Next is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation which I also posted about. This is amazing! It glides on the skin, is light, amazing build-able coverage! Ah yes! You can read me rave about it more in my post but I love it! Last is the Burt’s Bees Natural Lip Balm this has to be in my favourites this month as its been a life saver! I’ve been really suffering with dry, sore lips recently and this is the answer to all my problems. It’s moisturising which gets rid of the dryness and it’s also cooling which helps soothe the soreness. LOVE!

Another favourite this month has been the Collection Lasting Gel Colour in Vixen Red this is such a gorgeous deep plum red shade. It’s a colour I would say is perfect for the Winter to Spring transition as it’s deep and wintery but also vibrant and spring. It’s been a favourite for a long time but this is one of my favourite times of year to wear it!

Last is an app which I have been addicted to this month. It’s called Peak and is a brain training game. You do 4 exercises a day to help improve things such as your memory, focus, language skills etc and they’re so helpful but also so addictive. My mum and I both have it and we get so competitive about it! It’s seriously fun as nerdy as it may sound, go and give it a download!

Another favourite of mine is Esteé Lalonde she is my absolute favourite YouTuber at the moment and I can’t stop watching! If you haven’t already, go check her out!

Those are my favourites for the month, what were your favourites?

What I got for my birthday | 2016

IMG_7495 IMG_7497 IMG_7504

It was my 16th Birthday last week and I thought I’d share with you a few lovely bits that I received. I had the loveliest day ever and I love all my presents! So thank you to everybody who made it such a lovely day.

First of all I shall start with the jewellery type bits, the first is a Pandora Charm for my bracelet from my boyfriend. It’s a little globe because it’s our dream to travel together! Next is an Olivia Burton watch from all my friends. It’s got a black strap with a rose gold face, it’s so pretty! Thank you girls! Last is a Pisces necklace as I’m a Pisces, it’s a really dainty little piece which I love! I wear so many dainty necklaces and I love adding more to my collection.

IMG_7500 IMG_7507 IMG_7502

Next up are clothing items. I did get a white button up shirt as well but that is currently in the wash so I couldn’t get any pictures! So first of all are some suede Chelsea Boots from my nan which I absolutely adore! They’re so comfortable and I’ve been wearing them all the time. Next is a Harrington Jacket which I also love. I don’t have many coats or jackets and really fancied a new one in my collection so this is perfect. Lastly is a pair of jeans which are a really nice dark denim (they’re a little bit in need of an iron) which is a shade I actually don’t own so I’m really happy I can start creating a more causal outfit with these!

IMG_7503 IMG_7508 IMG_7498

Finally are some little bits and bobs! The first is a Star Wars lunchbox from my boyfriend. I think this is adorable! I always bring food to school because I’m too lazy to queue so this is perfect for school and it’s just the cutest thing, I’m a massive fan of Star Wars too! Next is a book one of my friends got me. AngelFall is her favourite book and she wanted me to love it as much as she did so she bought it for me! I’m really excited to start reading it! Lastly, and definitely the most quirky  are these 4 cards from Urban Outfitters. I’ve been wanting a sort of poster wall of prints and my mum thought these little cards were so cute and funny that she just had to buy them for me! I love them though! They’re already up on my wall!

Once again, thank you to everybody who bought me presents and everyone who made the day so wonderful! I had the best day!

Time for a change

PicMonkey Collage before PicMonkey Collage after

TA’DAH! I have new hair! I get bored so easily of my hair and felt like it was time for change. It had  grown to a rather awkward length and I decided to go for a big chop with a new colour!

If you follow me on twitter then you may have seen my tweet about how difficult it was to shoot these pictures on my own. So they’re not exactly the best quality and definitely don’t show my hair in all its glory.

Anyway, before, my hair was at a length I didn’t like and felt like I could do nothing with. It was all very dark and had not texture so my idea was to get it highlighted blonde to give it that texture. When I said this to my hairdresser she said she had a different idea and I just let her go with it!

She highlighted my hair with a natural highlighter so there was no bleach involved at all. The colour is actually quite a bit lighter than my hair but with my darker bits in there too, it just gives it that texture I was after. Also, as the colour is a natural one, once in the sun it will naturally brighten like normal hair – so my hair is constantly changing depending on the weather and I can’t get bored! I then had it chopped about half an inch above my shoulders (you can’t really tell its that short in these pictures) with it very slightly going shorter at the back. She also told me I should wear my hair in a middle parting which is something I never thought I’d suit but I’m actually loving it!

I am in love with my new hair! Are you wanting a hair makeover too?

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum

IMG_7381 IMG_7383

I had been looking into buying a new foundation for a while and wanted to make sure I got one that people seem to be liking. So after a lot and I mean a lot of research (I’m very picky with foundations) I finally settled with this. The Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation. I first found this on Esteé Lalonde’s Blog where she said it was an all time favourite. Esteé is one of my absolute style icons so after hearing her say amazing things about this, I knew I had to try.

I bought the foundation online so had to guess my shade. I ended up picking 52 Vanille which happens to be a perfect match to my skin tone which I am very happy with. The foundation is rich in fruits and fruit vitamins and the first thing you notice when you pump a bit out is the smell! It is the most gorgeous smell, sweet and fruity and you can smell it on your face after application, faintly, but it is there – which I really love. I have never tried a ‘Gel’ foundation before but I would say I like them! It’s not hugely different to a normal foundation but you can tell it glides across the skin more and makes your skin look fresh. It provides medium coverage which makes the skin look very natural. It is easily build-able and I have been able to build it to a very full coverage. IMG_7384

One of my favourite things about this foundation is the pump! I hate having to tap bottles to tempt a bit of product to come out and I always end up buying a pump for it. But this comes with pump and a good one at that. It just makes it so much easier to get the amount of foundation you want out.

One thing I do notice with the foundation is that it is very dewy. I personally have oily skin so I’m not keen on the whole dewy look; so after applying this I like to coat my face in a bit of powder and I find I’m good to go! It claims to last 16hours, I’ve never had my foundation on for that long, I wear mine for about 14hours and I would say it lasts the whole of that time.

All in all, I really love this foundation. It is a little bit too dewy for me but nothing that powder can’t fix. It provides a really nice medium coverage which is build-able, adds a beautiful healthy glow to the face and glides over the skin without any problems at all. I can definitely see why so many people love this foundation, I do too!

Have you tried this foundation? What are you thoughts on it?
